BSOD 0x000007F, 0x0000000000000008
EDIT2: Nope, uninstalling antivirus didn't help. The crash occured even without any antivirus software or AVG free antivirus.
Hi all,
I have a weird problem that suddenly surfaced itself a couple of days ago. It happens when I try to initiate a smb file transfer between my macbook and my gigabit ethernet port (the one that's attached to the motherboard). I cannot duplicate the problem otherwise, it has to be while transferring files via smb, not when I'm browsing the net or otherwise.
I tried swapping ethernet ports and instead using the second 100Mbps port that I added on, that I usually use for the internet. Same thing happens, after a random amount of time the computer decides to BSOD.
The weird thing is that I've always transfered files this way, for at least 1 year now. The only hardware changes that I could think of is a new 4-bay RAID 5 enclosure that I bought, or my updated ATI drivers which I tried to roll back, to no avail.
The problem is very similar to this one (https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...000000008.html), however, I do not have zoneAlarm installed.
One more thing, the computer totally crashes after it shows me the blue screen. It tells me that it's "initializing disk for memory dump" (or something along those lines), but it never gets to the point where it's actually writing anything to disk. So i'm not sure whether you'll be able to salvage anything from the BSOD zip that I compiled- just looking at the reports it seems the latest BSOD your program was able to take was from January.
My PC is a windows 7 x64, non-OEM. The motherboard, CPU and memory is about 1 1/2 years old and the OS installation is about the same age.
Thanks for any help in advance.
EDIT: In a leap of genius I tried uninstalling my antivirus program, avast, and that seemed to do the trick. On the other hand, I am crushed that my favorite antivirus program is causing this. I guess my question now is: what antivirus program should I use now? Also, how can I report this problem to alwil so that they can fix this problem?
I'm going to remove my dump files as I'm a paranoid guy.
