New Build Takes a few attempts to boot!

    Hi All,

    Just built my first PC:

    AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 9MB
    Asus M4A88T-M 880G Socket AM3
    Hitachi Deskstar 1TB Hard Drive
    8 GB DDR 3 RAM
    ASUS HD 6850 Direct CU 1GB GDDR5
    680w PSU G7

Brand new OEM Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installation with all possible updates applied.

Please see attached file for perffmon and BSOD Dump.

All is fine and a great new PC but it is taking a few attempts to boot.

From switching it on it boots to the windows loading screen (the one with the pulsing windows logo) then blue screens

    then reboots itself

Then goes into windows recovery (do you want to start in safe mode)

Choose start windows in normal mode then pc boots up fine and displays the following error report:

Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 1000007e
    BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000006
    BCP2: FFFFF80002F57123
    BCP3: FFFFF880009A97F8
    BCP4: FFFFF880009A9050
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\032411-25490-01.dmp
    C:\Users\House\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-34086-0.sysdata.xml

Once I close this message the pc is fine and no other problems exist!

Any advice would be a great help.

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000006, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002f57123, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: fffff880009a97f8, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: fffff880009a9050, Context Record Address

Just done an optimisation and clean using win 7 manager but still the problem occurs. It seems like its only the first boot of the day though.

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000006, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002f57123, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: fffff880009a97f8, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: fffff880009a9050, Context Record Address

    OK,
CHKDSK - Disk Check has been run. No problems.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable, made no difference.

Uninstalled Daemon Tools and still the problem persists.

Once the PC is up and running I can power it off and back up with no BSOD, the same goes for restarting but its just that first cold boot of the day or if its been powered off for a few hours.

The asus boards have had issues with the memory and cold booting (the reason I came to these forums in the first place). And my memory passed all the tests but still had issues. What are your memory specs? What are the settings in the BIOS. Do you have 4x2gig memory? Try booting only with 2x2gig or even 1x2gig and see if the problem continues.

Thanks mgorman, I have 8GB PC3-10600 DDR3 Memory RAM DDR3 1333 MHz 2 x 4GB. I have them seated in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 as the mb manual suggests. Ill try swapping them over. Also I'll mention that when I first booted up the pc I had to press the mem ok button on the board so the board could begin memory compatibility tuning but this was only on the first boot after build. What settings am I looking at in the BIOS?

What brand is it? Are they a dual channel kit? Try booting with only 1 stick of memory in the computer. Also try putting them both in the blue slots or both in the black slots. Please run CPU-Z and take a screen shot of your memory specs and speeds.
