Code:
ASACPI.sys Thu Aug 12 22:52:52 2004 (411C2D04)
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause. (in your case it's from 2004)
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

BSOD's on friends PC

OK have followed the steps as set down by Jonathan King. Only 1 thing, tried perfmon /report but would not create a report?? kept coming back with an error timeout.
the problem:
my mate has this pc, AMD3800 X2, 2Gb DDR400 mem, Nvidia 7300 PCIE graphics, Samsung Spinpoint 80Gb IDE H/D, Asus A8V-VM M/b (via).
He's installed 7, and is having multiple BSOD's. before he installed 7, he checked with the microsoft tool and it said everything was 7 compatible?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Please follow my suggestions from above.

Also run memtest for at least 6-8 passes

have tried what you said, but cannot find any file called ASACPI.sys in the c drive anywhere, I've done a search and it says it doesnt exist??

will run memtest in a moment

OK found the ASACPI and have replaced it, it now shows 2011 just updating the graphics, will run memtest in tomorrow, its late now, is there anything else showing up in the bumps??

It was loaded in the system at the time of the crash. It would be located in C:\windows\system32\drivers

OK, I've replaced the ASACPI.sys and it now dates 2009. Updated the driver for graphics, that now dates 2011. Ran memtest from a disk at boot for 10 passes will no fails.
Will run the machine now for a while and see if the BSOD's continue. Hopefully not.

Will reply again in a while.
