I woke up last Monday and I had an error message, it said hard drive failure is imminent, please back up your hd and call customer support.
I have a HP Pavilion P6310F, Windows home premium 7, 64 bit, Western Digital Sata 1tb HD.
I backed up my computer to an external HD and called customer support. They had me do just about everything, even switching the ends of the cables and that actually got the BIOS to recognize the HD and we did a recovery. I then tried to restore my hd and then it quit after about 20 minutes. I called HP and they sent me a new hD and now the BIOS doesn't recognize the new HD. I have it set to boot from disc as the HD is blank. They sent me two sets of recovery discs. It won't boost from disc, but it does recognize the CD drive. I called HP again and they are going to send me a box to send the computer back to them.
I just turned the computer back on and a black screen came up and it does show the HD on there. So I am at a standstill, I want to get it going without sending it back. I don't want to wait to get my computer back. at least I saved my old computer.
The jumpers are not the problem, factory setting is no jumpers.
Does anybody have any ideas. At least it is still under warranty.
I now get an error message: BIOSHD-3. And to make sure my cables are connected properly. Which they are. Can I use a different spot on my motherboard to connect my sata hd drive cable?
