    Hi, Another update.

I thought i'd kick off the CPU Stress test over night but as soon as it starts both workers finish with a Fatal Error.

    I've attached the results file.

Just a quick update, I Couldn't get memtest to run last night, for some reason the machine wouldn't boot from USB and I had no spare cd's around.

I've picked up some CD's today so i'll run the Mem test overnight.

Don't suppose you had a chance to look over the Prime95 results file did you?

Thanks again for all your help.

Did you have the option "Round Off Error Checking" ticked when you ran the test? If you did, uncheck it, and run the tests again

    Hi,

The first time I ran it "Round Off Error Checking" was unchecked, after a bit of googleing I checked it, but unfortunatly got the same result.

Unfortunately, your CPU is most likely going to need to be replaced. If you are capable of doing it yourself go ahead and replace it. Otherwise you'll need to take it to a repair shop. If you're CPU is still under warranty see if you can RMA it.

Hi, Yeah I thought that might be the case, just had a look at the heat sink and it appears that the clip that holds it in place is cracked and pretty loose.

System will be three years old in July Bought it from Overclockers.co.uk so I don't think the returns would cover it.

    Hi,

Thought I would just post a quick update, I called Overclockers on the off chance that the CPU was covered by a 3-year warranty which I was told it was so I sent it off to them, unfortunatly I received an email from them yesterday stating that it was no longer under warranty.

After a quick call to Tech support today they explained that the guy I spoke to originally was new and that my Processor was only covered by a 2 year warranty, but they did test the CPU and it is indeed faulty.

My next problem is that my motherboard(M2N SLI) looks like it only supports AM2 so now i'm scouring the internet looking for a replacement chip until I can afford to build a new rig at the end of the year.

Anyway just wanted to say thanks for everyones help, and if anyone knows any online retailers that may hold older stock of AM2 I'm much appreciate a link.

    Thanks
