    Another BSOD thread!

Hi guys. I've been getting the BSOD for a while on my new computer. It gives me the error code: 0x00000124. I looked at other threads on this wonderful website and found a link to Prime95. This program began to test my CPU and the first worker (Out Of 4) Fails on the second test. I do not have enough time to read the error message for the failure because It kicks in with BSOD. I find I get the BSOD every evening just randomally. I am rubbish with computers so i can only assume that It is my processor causing the BSOD due to this fail in the test. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you could please describe everything in baby steps I would also be very grateful!
    My specs:
    Intel Core i5-2500k CPU @ 3.30GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE
    4GB RAM
I have attached the most recent BSOD dump file. (I don't know if this will help).
    Thanks.

Edit: I run Windows 7 64bit and For some reason it says the dump file is invalid and won't let me upload it. Now I have uploaded a ZIP file.

All 13 BSOD were caused by hardware
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

You stated that you ran Prime95 and one of the workers failed. That could either mean your CPU is going or your PSU is not supplying enough power. What type of PSU do you have?

Run these tests again even if you've already done it and report back the results.
    1. Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+
    2. Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until error - https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html

At the bottom of my PSU it says total 550Watts. I ran the Memtest last night and had 7 passes and no errors/failures. I tried to run Prime95 again and as soon as I ran it worker one said hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. I could not find this file even when searching but in a file called 'results' it said this: "[Fri Apr 08 16:12:30 2011]
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file."
    Thanks.

This means that there is a problem with your CPU itself. You should replace it, reset your bios values to defaults and stop any overclocking

Did you have Error Rounding ticked? Are you doing any type of over clocking?

I did not tick the option in the menu. When i bought the computer the company said that it would be overclocked but when i had problems installing an OS (It wouldn't take XP for whatever reason) I belive I may have stopped the overclocking. I wouldn't know how to check if it was overclocked anyway.

This is a new computer I hope I don't have to replace the CPU. But thanks for the advice.

To remove any overclocking you can reset the BIOS to default settings or you can use the CMOS jumpers on the motherboard to reset it. Refer to your motherboard manual on how to reset to BIOS.

When I enetered BIOS I went on to advanced BIOS settings and then there was an option to press F6 for fail-safe defaults. Should I press that? I cant find how to return it to defualts in the manual. Thanks.
