BSOD dmp files without logging in.
Ok so I read the sticky and I know the instructions for posting about BSOD crashes. Sorry if I am violating strict rules but I need some help. The BSOD screen is preventing me from logging in. It actually appears as windows tries to log on. I also tried safemode and that was a no go. So I can't access the desktop in the usual way in order to post the files you guys need to help me.
This is my friends CPU. It is a Dell laptop studio 1745 with windows 7 home premium on it. Right now I am running the diagnostic utility that comes with it and it is checkin the harddisk for errors as well as the memory for errors. It should come up clean as I am pretty sure this is a driver issue. The BSOD error is: "irql not equal or less" and I have lurked on this forum enough to know you guys can really help identify it.
He does not have a recovery disk, but I do have a pendrive Linux bootable drive. It is running ubuntu 10.10 and I can access his files in that round about way. Is there a way I can get these dmp files you guys need with the pendrive bootble? Is there any way to do it without accessing the desktop?
At this point I am ready just to boot up Linux, recover any data he needs, and whipe the entire dive back to default. But I want to know if I have other options. Thanks for your time.
