BSOD dmp files without logging in.

Ok so I read the sticky and I know the instructions for posting about BSOD crashes. Sorry if I am violating strict rules but I need some help. The BSOD screen is preventing me from logging in. It actually appears as windows tries to log on. I also tried safemode and that was a no go. So I can't access the desktop in the usual way in order to post the files you guys need to help me.

This is my friends CPU. It is a Dell laptop studio 1745 with windows 7 home premium on it. Right now I am running the diagnostic utility that comes with it and it is checkin the harddisk for errors as well as the memory for errors. It should come up clean as I am pretty sure this is a driver issue. The BSOD error is: "irql not equal or less" and I have lurked on this forum enough to know you guys can really help identify it.

He does not have a recovery disk, but I do have a pendrive Linux bootable drive. It is running ubuntu 10.10 and I can access his files in that round about way. Is there a way I can get these dmp files you guys need with the pendrive bootble? Is there any way to do it without accessing the desktop?

At this point I am ready just to boot up Linux, recover any data he needs, and whipe the entire dive back to default. But I want to know if I have other options. Thanks for your time.

There's a rootkit that's been doing the rounds since December that shows itself through blue screens with a IRQ not less or equal stop code. It usually blames the iastor.sys driver as the cause.
It starts by blue screening/freezing on random programs, then when booting to Normal Mode, then when you try to boot to Safe Mode. Eventually it will allow no access whatsoever.

Download TDSSKiller and run it in Safe Mode to rule out the RootKit.

Persevere trying to get into Safe Mode as it may well slip up and actually let you in. Once the TDSSKiller is set up, you need at most a 30 second window to run it. You may well be able to run it through your Linux, I'm not 100% with that.

It is still running the onboard memtest... I will download that utility using the linux bootable and place it on the desktop. The only problem is, as you said, it is highly unlikely that I can make it to the desktop in safemode before the BSOD kicks in. I will try that first, and I will look up if there is anyway to run that program off the pendrive instead. Will post back with results.... Though I am open to anymore advice since I am doubtful I can access the desktop and doubtful that Linux can run the program. However there is a program in Linux called WINE that should allow me to run windows exe's ... I'll see if that works. I will check back in as soon as the memtest finishes. Thanks in advanced

Ok so the memory and haddrive checked out fine. Which means this really is a software issue. I booted Linux and put the exe on the desktop, but Linux does not execute the file, nor is the file compatible with WINE... So I tried to boot up in safe mode again... And the BSOD's got worse, now it comes up even before I can type in the password to log in when in safemode.

    Any ideas?
