Sony Vaio VGN-11AW0J Crash
I've been running Windows 7 since early beta, so I'm not a complete novice when it comes to software stuff. However when it comes to hardware, I know next to nothing.
I'm also pretty good at googling, so I've tried most of the solutions/tests out there. I've narrowed it down to either the processor or the hard drive. Here's a quick summary of what happened:
Left the computer alone for a bit, came back and it was half frozen. I could move the mouse on the screen, but when I clicked on things it would take a very long time to open. I mean, a program that usually took a second to open took roughly 20 minutes. So I reset it and it loaded to a blue screen with the unmountable_boot_volume error.
Since then I've tried startup repair, a Windows 7 repair disk, xp, vista, and windows 7 install disks, and a memory diagnostic. The memory diagnostic came back fine, but the rest all load to either the BSOD, or the blue screen right before the login screen, then it freezes forever.
But I have a Toshiba mk3252gsx, and of course they don't have a diagnostic for that. The only diagnostic tool that I've been able to find requires it to be from a DOS screen, which I can't seem to be able to do.
I don't have any of the zip files, as I can't get into that computer, I'm using an old XP beast.
It's a 7X64 ultimate, I've reinstalled from vista, to beta 7, to a full retail version of 7 ultimate about a year ago. The computer itself is a little over 2 years old.
So if anybody has any ideas, please let me know.
