    freezing after i started


    Ever since I installed windows 7 service pack 1 what happens is my computer freezes when it starts. So as soon as I log in my computer freezes for about five minutes.. Why would this be happening? And all drivers are updated.

    Plenty of old Toshiba programs on your system. I'd suggest uninstalling them (the above list is just the older one's from the Running Modules section of MSINFO32). Also, please update the O2Micro Flash memory card reader drivers to a more current version (if unable to find a more current version, please post back).

    Plenty of incompatible software throwing errors in System log of Event Viewer. Please uninstall them also:
    MGHwCtrl.sys - probably an old Service Control Manager from MSI (blocked by Windows)
    RTCore64.sys - RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner (known issues w/Win7)
    afw.sys - Argentum (?sp) firewall - not necessarily incompatible, but it throws lot's of errors in Windows and is blocked by Windows

    Explorer crashing due to old Toshiba drivers/programs in Application log of Event Viewer

    Also, you have sporadic networking connection issues - I'd have to suggest scanning for malware at this point. Here's a link to some free scanners: Free Online AntiMalware Scanners (read the details at the link)

    Please let us know if this solves things - or if we have to continue troubleshooting.

    so i installed microsoft security essentials but i can not update it because for some reason i cannot connect the the internet. I will try in safemode with networking
