    Several(3-5) BSoD's every day

    Hello,

For the past little while(2 months? +) my computer has been getting random blue screen error messages during the day, seemingly unrelated to what i am doing on the computer at the time.

I believe i have followed the posting instructions correctly:

    Running Windows 7 Ultimate X64
I have had XP installed on the system in the past, this Windows 7 install has been on for about 8 months now. I believe it is a full retail version.

The hardware is about 5 or 6 years old:
    AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2Ghz
    ASUS M2N-E motherboard
    etc..

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but around the same time that this started happening, my USB ports began acting funny. Whenever i plug something in via usb(charge my iphone for example), my monitor flickers and i also hear the sound file that windows plays when you connect a USB device 2-3 times instead of just once.

I really appreciate any help- thanks in advance.

    Mike

    Hi Mike and welcome

You have at least three problems

1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
    Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-SPTD.SYS the second biggest cause used by daemon tools and alcohol120

Remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:DuplexSecure - Downloads

You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

3- Several of these were caused by your VBC.exe (visual Basic interpreter) I am unsure in what capacity you are using it so cannot direct you without more info

    Hi again,

Unfortunately i had two more BSoD's today after following your advice. I ran the BSOD Dump & System file collector app again, and have uploaded the new contents to this post.

Please let me know if you know of anything else that i can try, as it would be really appreciated. These blue screens are getting extremely frustrating, and while i consider myself pretty good with computers, diagnosing a blue screen is pretty much out of my capabilities.

Hi Mike. I suppose the forum is a victim of its own success but we do try not to let anybody slip through!

STOP 0x0000001E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (go to top of page)
    Usual causes:
Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS

Your latest dump file lists nvstor.sys as the probable cause which is one of the nVidia storage drivers.

    As a Priority:

Check for a newer version of nvstor.sys Fri Mar 19 20:45:11 2010 nVidia

    Outdated Drivers. Update:

    nvm62x64.sys Fri Oct 17 22:01:06 2008 nForce Ethernet

Good job on updating the ASACPI driver btw. Sometimes it's a right pig to replace it. Just doesn't seem t want to play ball!

Let us know how it goes. If you get further problems with blue screens, attach your new dump files and details and we'll move on from there.

    Thank you.

OK, so I have updated both of these drivers as fimble suggested. I downloaded the NForce drivers off of NVidia's website for my motherboard, and now the drivers in question have been updated.

Unfortunately I got another 3 blue screens today. I have attached another log.

Thanks again for all the help!
