Several(3-5) BSoD's every day

With only minidumps, all i can provide is an educated guess: everything points to a KM malware. The easiest way out would probably be to format & reinstall.
You could also try to clean it from another boot.

OK so i feel like i need to revive this thread. I tried to format the computer this weekend and re-install windows 7 but ran into more problems. As soon as i boot from the win7 CD and after the initialization loads up i get a BSOD. I'm not able to even begin the installation process.

This lead me to believe that my issue was definitely hardware related, so I ran memtest86 last night for 11+ hours. 12 passes, not a single error.

Is it possible that the hard drive is causing this problem? Is there something out there that i can use to test it? What about for CPU/graphics card?

This is beginning to get really frustrating. I tried to complete a full virus scan with MSEE but of course the computer blue screens before i can finish. I've attached a log of all my latest BSOD's(there are quite a few of them)

Im also running a chkdsk at the moment, so far so good. No errors, but it is taking a very long time on step 4/5 verifying file data.

Im worried that if i manage to format the drive and the problem isnt software related that i wont be able to get windows back on it

Ok so the CHKDSK finished after about 2 hours but no errors reported.

I just ran driver verifier and I've included another file that should have the DMP for the driver verifier crash in it(most recent one)

I just want to know what is causing it; if it is hardware than i want to know which piece so i can replace it.

Did you format your HD before reinstalling windows?

I can't remember if i did originally or not. When i try to boot from CD to re-install windows now, it blue screens before i get the option of formatting my drive.

edit: i'm pretty sure that initially i formatted this drive when i installed windows

Then lets assume you didnt. Would you be comfortable burning yourself some linux live distro, format the drive and retry win install ? If not, i can guide you through it.

Also, since I do not know your technical proficiency, I have to ask: when you say "boot from the windows 7 cd", what do you mean exactly? Even though your machine looks infected with a rootkit, a boot cd install bugchecking is unexpected.

It means that i booted from the cd..(ie, changed bios boot order priority etc). I did not simply run the CD from windows if that's what you're asking

With regards to the linux live distro, I could potentially try that, but i'm not so sure it will help. Please correct me if i am wrong here, but if my computer is BSOD'ing in the windows installation environment, doesn't that isolate the problem to hardware related?

If not, and your certain it is software(virus, rootkit etc) then what I will try is purchasing one of these(NCIX.com - Buy Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA2 3Gbps 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM - Western Digital WD - WD20EARS - in Canada) and trying a fresh installation of windows 7 on it. I need more disk space anyways.

I had a spare HD lying around so i took out my current HD, put it in and booted from the win7 cd. Still got a BSOD- any other ideas?
