Windows 7: Windows not booting - Verifying DMI pool data

Windows not booting - Verifying DMI pool data

After restarting my computer yesterday I was greeted with this message (it always comes up and disappears in less than a second) and a complete lack of loading.

The internet hasn’t really told me anything (other than it could be just about anything), I can access the bios fine, my HDD is being recognised, the OS just wont load.

Viewing the Windows recovery disk log did net some interesting results however, at one point it says:
boot critical file d:/ci.dll is corrupt
repair failed.error code 0x2

0x2 is a “file not found” sort of thing from what I understand

I really have no idea where to go from here and was hoping you guys could help me, I've used this site for a lot of my problems and it has generally been really useful.

This is probably my last resort before formatting, something I really don’t want to do.

EDIT: sorry is this is the wrong section, I wasn’t really sure, feel free to move the thread if necessary.

Verifying dmi_pool is usually caused by your BIOS. I would update it ensuring you have a backup before you do.

Thanks, turns out it was a bios problem after all, I was running off in the wrong direction.

Thanks for the help.
