w7 update 4/26/11 error loading operating system

last night windows automatically updated and today when i turn it on i get "error loading operating system". i've run all the memory checks and disk checks that i could frm the BIOS and everything checks out. I have a UEFI interface and hitting f11 is supposed to give me a recovery manager but instead it just brings me back to the black error screen. please help.

If you have your Windows 7 Installation Disc, boot from that and run through the Startup Repair. Give that go and report back.

that would be one of the main problems. i don't have a disk and i can't create a repair disk or any other kind of disk because it won't even start in any mode. also, in my other laptops i was able to hit f8 durring start up and select safe mode but i can't even do that.

I have the same issue and ran thru repair, issue still remains....repair finds nothing wrong but still boots to error loading operating system when booting from hard drive, boots fine when booting to repair disk

If you have access to another PC....you can use the previous link and download a CD image and burn a CD...although as I said running repair did not fix---i also tried restoring back to yesterday prior to the windows updates but the restore fails

Well since you're able to access the Internet, clearly, it also wouldn't hurt to check your hard drive itself to make sure it's good. I suggest the Hiren's Boot CD (Hiren's BootCD Fan & Discussion Platform). There's a slew of tools to check your drive for problems.

There is one thing to take away from this, however. DRIVE IMAGE.
