Mike and I have discussed this; those logs seem quite understandable to us now. July 14, 2009 is the date Windows was finished. I wouldn't worry about anything, personally.

Let's go back to Plan A, disconnect the DVD drive for now and run the hardware tests.

Update your Realtek drivers - Realtek
I downloaded from the link and extracted the files
Is this the file i was meant to use? - RtNicprop64.dll

I double clicked it and then i was prompted by the computer to accept changes that this file would make
I clicked on yes, so i hope i did the right thing ???

You'll want to use Device Manager to install those drivers. See here: Driver Install - Device Manager

Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until fail - CPU - Stress Test with Prime95
This is the last of the tests I need to run.
I have loaded " Real Temp" to monitor temp and when i have run a couple of the tests I have been getting core temps up around 86*C ( I understand Realtemp is not very accurate without first being calibrated) however i think these temps are a little high to proceed.

This quote below from dave76 in this thread here at https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...prime95-2.html
has whats got me concerned about continuing the Prime95 tests but perhaps you could reassure me one way or the other

Your Intel i5-760 processor details page.

    TCASE
    72.7░C

The CPU case temp is different than the individual core temps, add 5░C to this for your max core temp = 77.7░C

Real temp will show you the core temps but you must shutdown the program when you feel it's necessary.
This is an overclocking program and some people don't mind overheating and damaging their CPUs.
All depends on how far you want to go, I stay under 77.7░C, Prime95 on my i5-750 3.84GHz OC runs at 58░C.

    Thanks again

Update your drivers as recommended by mgorman87 and Jonathan_King, these can cause/contribute to the BSoDs.

Compare the CPU core temps with other core temp apps.

Check you BIOS temps, the CPU will cool down quickly so it is just an indication of the temps.

Also use Core Temp and Speed Fan to check against Real Temp.
It's not unusual to have different readings but, they should be fairly close.

I wouldn't recommend going past 78░C on any test, you should find out why the temps are so high.
If they are due to OC or CPU cooler problems.

Can you download CPUZ and post a snip of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs.

For posting the information , enter 'Snipping tool' in the Start button > Search box, hit enter. Select the area you want to post and save to a convenient place.
How to Post a Screenshot in Seven Forums

Do you have a stock CPU cooler?
Check to see if it is loose. Try turning it, it shouldn't move at all or be very hard to turn.

How many fans do you have in your case?
Which direction are they moving air?

    Ok

Here are the snippets from CPUZ
    Attachment 153696

Real temp and Speed Fan are showing very similar results
Core Temps readings are maybe a degree different, so once again without any calibration, not something to worry about i would imagine.
However Core 2 on all three programs appears to run 4 to 5 degrees higher than Cores 0, 1 and 3 (which are all in sync

    Here's a snap shot
    Attachment 153697

How many fans do you have in your case?
Which direction are they moving air?
I will look into these later when i shut down the puter for the day.

I assume a CPU cooler is a fancy name for the Fan?

The CPU cooler has heat pipes and cooling fins and the unit is cooled by a fan.

    Stock Intel CPU cooler:

    Attachment 153707

This is an after market CPU cooler, not very expensive and keeps everything much cooler.
    Cooler Master 212 +

The CPUZ tabs show that you have CPU stepping enabled, which is good, this will let everything run cooler until more power is needed.

The core temp programs are showing typical differences.
I would still check that the CPU cooler is not loose.

Let us know how many case fans you have.

Here are the snippets from CPUZ
    Attachment 153696

Do you have a stock CPU cooler? Yes Intel
Check to see if it is loose. Try turning it, it shouldn't move at all or be very hard to turn.

How many fans do you have in your case? Which direction are they moving air?
    2
one for CPU blowing air onto cpu not sucking away from cpu
one for the case blowing air out of case

So it appears to pass all the testing etc.
Max temp the cores got to under the Prime95 tests was 84*C ( is this a problem?)

When using the computer in normal use temps are hovering in the 20s to 30*C depending on loads

Have just disconnected the dvd drive to see if this helps.
Don't seem to be getting so many occurences since updating Realtek driver and to SP1, however i have gotten both BSOD and windows shutting down faults

Still getting this every other day

Your CPU is running too hot with the Prime95 test.

Your Intel Core i5 CPU 760 spec sheet: Intel Core i5 CPU 760

The Tcase max temp is 72.7░C, this is for the CPU case, add 5░C for the max CPU core temp = 77.7░C.

My i5-750 is OC'ed to 3.84GHz and with the CM Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler, the Prime95 torture test runs at 58░C.
A stock Intel CPU cooler should run Prime95 at or below 68░C.

Check if your CPU cooler is loose.
If it is loose, take it off then clean the old paste off of the CPU, apply new thermal paste, AC-5 is recommended, and re-install the CPU cooler.
Make sure the push pins are fully seated.

Go to your BIOS and tell us what the CPU, RAM and the CPU integrated memory controller voltages are.
With two 4GB RAM cards installed I would bump the CPU integrated memory controller voltage.
Default setting is 1.10v, bump it to 1.15v (or 1.170v if the 1.150v option is not available).

Please run these tests and report back the results
    1. Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Ran for 9 passes -no errors
    2. Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until fail - CPU - Stress Test with Prime95
Ran all 3 tests for 3 to 4 hours - no failures however temps reached max 84*C
    3. Hard drive scan usings SeaTools - SeaTools for Windows | Seagate - Both long and short tests
Ran both tests - no errors
There are three tests posted, which ones did you run and what were the results?
