iastor.sys & internal_power_error BSoD

Hi there,

I'm getting two BSoD's in Windows 7...

The first one, "iastor.sys" invariably crashes the system after a few minutes in windows. I manage to circumvent it by working in safe mode with network options.

The second one, "internal_power_error", occurs whenever I try to reset or shut down the computer.

I have not added any new hardware recently, I did however have a virus infection but managed to clean the system using avast!

I have tried to restore the system to a previous stage but to no avail.

I'm attaching the info from the BSoD app, I couldn't produce the system health report as the viewer returns an error when I open it.

System Info:

HP EliteBook 8540p
Windows 7 Professional OEM
Intel i5 M520 @2.4Ghz
4 Gb RAM

Any help at all will be greatly appreaciated!!

Thanks!!

Both of the minidumps show different causes but both list Avast as modified. I would remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials at least to test.

I see the most recent version of Avast is installed; I wonder if something else is the trouble here.
