DUAL BOOT CRASH W/UBUNTU HD ATTACHED

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Hello

This is a question for all you dual boot users out there!

I have a 3 boot system

  • Windows XP Pro 32bit
  • Windows 7 Pro 64bit (SATA CH3)
  • Ubuntu 10.10 64bit (SATA CH5)

Each is on its own Western digital HD and I use Windows 7 Boot Manager to go from one OS to the other. Also I have run Western Digitals Disk utility on all three HD and it came back that each HD was in good working order. All HD are SATA II.

Now here is the issue!

From time to time when I'm at the colored animated windows 7 splash screen and it starts to end and should go into the user login screen, the system just shuts off? That's it, no error, nothing! I can also reproduce it in SAFE MODE.

Additional Info:
  • This only happens when going into Windows 7 from a cold startup, none of the other OS's have this issue.
  • This is not an issue with the Ubuntu HD disconnected.
  • If I go info Ubuntu first and then Windows 7 I don't have the problem.
  • I have moved the SATA Connections around but that did not help.
  • BIOS is up to date and the battery is new.
  • The motherboard GA-M55SLI – S4 seems fine, no popped circuits.
  • The power supply is new and is a ATX 650w.

What is it that Windows 7 is looking at, that none of the other systems are that would cause it to shut off from time to time? This is really weird!

Thanks for your help any suggested reading or information that you could throw my way would be great.
