System freezes when idle

a little while ago I was experiencing the exact same problem as I am having again now. The only catch is, this is a completely different build. The only parts that are still the same are the keyboard & speakers.. (MS Sidewinder X6 without the num pad & Logitech's Z-10 - both usb), oh & the case + fan-controller (Coolermaster ATCS840 + ZM-MFC1 Plus), and of course Windows 7 64 Ultimate with updated Chrome as my main browser, Aida64 Ultimate for monitoring & NIS2011 (I changed back from MSE to Norton, since it makes no difference).

Anyway this system is rock-solid when worked on or stressed; that's 10+ hours Memtest86+ 4.20, 100 runs LinX all memory, 2+ hours Furmark, etcetc. Every test I throw at it, it passes. When gaming it has also never crashed on me,

when the system is idle or when simply running some torrents it WILL freeze - sometimes after an hour, sometimes after 5+ hours, but it will freeze eventually, & then needs a hard restart. There's also never any BSOD's, just freeze.

I already ran verifier but nothing crashed, & I updated all 3rd-party drivers (I think..).

System specs are updated. Hopefully someone can find something in the reports.. Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 64b Ultimate

I've the exact same problem. In my case, a fully new (1 week old) OEM W7 Home Premium, I7-2600, 8GB, ASUS Sabretooth P67 w/ 120Gb Emcrest SSD and a GTX570. I have a USB mouse and PS/2 Keyboard. In the freeze, the mouse IR led turns off, Keyboard led remains on, screen freezes including clock but ethernet leds flash crazily and causes my switch (and as a result, other PC's on that LAN have no more LAN/Internet connection).
As far as I can tell, all BIOS and W7 powersaving modes are off.

Extra question: Is this situation where the screen 'freezes' (but continues to show that what was running at the time of the Windows 7 crash) = BSOD? Or am I to take BSOD literally....

rabor: I don't see anything that sticks out in your logs (it's in Dutch so I might have missed something). There are two different Intel network drivers loaded. One is more updated then the other. Download the latest driver from here and see if it fixes your problem

the board has 2 Gbit-ports (Intel 82579V & 82583V), & it's updated now. Let's see what happens.

Unexpected Shutdowns and Freezes when Idle
Hello All, I am experiencing some unexpected shutdowns and freezing when my Asus G73-JW laptop is idle. I think my shut-downs may have been caused by Windows power saving features. I disabled these features (sleep, hibernate, HDD shut-off, USB selective suspend), and had a freeze occur after...

Firefox freezes after being left idle
Hi all, I am using FF 5 currently and every time I leave the browser for a few minutes and then 'wake' it from being idle, I get a delay until it starts to respond to anything. It seems that this problem started when I first upgraded from FF 3 to 4 and has been going on since then. I have...

Windows 7 freezes for a few seconds after being idle
I have a weird problem ever since I've installed Windows 7. Everytime after my computer was idle for a long period, like when I come home from work and start using the computer or after I have read a long article on the web, when I try, for example, to open a folder, open my browser or save a file,...

Display Freezes When Idle
For some reason, if I leave my PC idle (as in not asleep) for a while the screen will be frozen for a short time when I come back. The cursor will move, but it won't be able to click on anything. It will do this for a short time before locking up completely (not moving) and then a few seconds later...
