BSOD after upgrade

After I upgraded a few items today I got the BSOD.
But before the BSOD I couldn't watch a stream of a tennis match.
The background was green but had sound.
Then I went to youtube to test it out and the same thing happened.
At that time I got a atikmpag.sys error, page fault in nonpaged area 0X50 error.

So I did a system restore to about a week ago, before the automatic upgrade.

After several more BSOD's I was able to log on but there was a message about a missing driver and I lost my resolution. After several more restarts I got my resolution back. So then tried to watch a stream, it worked for about 15 seconds then lost video but still had sound.

The system is about a year old and nothing has changed from my original system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the dumps enabled but checked and nothing was there.
I should have 2 or 3 of them.

I don't understand. You state you upgraded; what? Then at the end of your post you state nothing has changed on your original system. What did you do right before your problem started. Did you update programs, program drivers, security? Did you install and new software or hardware? Any information like this could help us help you.

Windows has files that it downloads every so often, they are upgrades to windows7 OS, I guess updates is the proper word.

These are automatically updated but now I turned off the automatic updates.
I restored to a time before the updates but it didn't help.

Another point is that I got errors with some scoreboards I monitor, there were no scores, just a blank screen.
Sometimes the mouse pointer would be gone or can't close a window if clicking on the close window 'X'.

When restarting at one time the screen resolution was at the lowest level.



Hope this helps, all kind of strange behavior.

I got another BSOD.
Again I went to see if the dump file was there but it wasn't.

Ran memtest for about 4 hours and no errors.
Had 2 more BSOD's today but was able to get logged in finally. It's the usual ones, ATIkmpag.sys.

No DMP files included in upload. Please find and upload them


This (ATIkmpag.sys.) indicates a video driver problem of some sort.

There are no dump files with this error. Though the BSOD is supposed to write one it doesn't.

But not sure if this will do me any good, just a guess.



Any ideas out there?
