    Another Random Blue Screen Issue

Hi and thanks in advance to whoever takes the time to help me out.

I get a random BSOD somtimes idle (nothing running in the background) or sometimes playing games. What's weird is when I restart because of the BSOD, I never seem to BSOD again. Only until I restart the computer properly is when the BSOD usually happens.

I've replaced my CPU and video for the sake of upgrading (everything in my system specs is what I'm currently running). Didn't think it would solve anything, but was kinda hoping anyway. Kinda thinking it's a RAM or hard drive problem. I've run MemTest86+ latest version, ran it for 8 and half hours with no errors. I've run the SeaTools for Windows for my Seagate Harddrive. Both long and short test, both passing. And also ran CHKDSK from windows. Attached is the latest dump file along with the log from the CHKDSK if you don't believe me .

I've also run verifier.exe and I did BSOD because of a some ASUS driver, I believe. So I went to the ASUS site and updated almost everything. Ran the verifier again, and didn't BSOD. If you'd like to see the dump file from the verifier I can attach it.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I do research suggestions that you give to others and it feels like I've tried almost everything. So hopefully you can give me some insight from my dump files, because I don't know how to read them.

*Update* - Forgot to add that I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials. I was previously running McAfee.
*Update* - Noticed that I was running old version of Driver Sweeper. Upgraded to 3.0 and saw that I still had old AMD video drivers. Cleaned them out, so maybe this is the fix. Will update tomorrow.

    Thank you.

    This one caused by hardware

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

    ALSO

What is in event viewer on this?

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Zigzag thanks for the quick reply.

Looking at the eventviewer for the day of my most recent BSOD (5/15/11), I saw only one red flag Error:

I researched and people have said to download the Visual C++ Redistrib. Package, so I did. Will update if I BSOD again today. This was not from an Application Hang - source. When filtering by Source I found about 10 Application Hang records. Attached the three most recent. I only attached three because reading through most of them, it seems like whatever is causing the BSOD is causing whatever program's I'm currently running to "Hang". Just a theory though.

In the x124 thread I'm good on: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. 7 - I haven't reinstalled windows since I installed Windows 7. I used to have Windows Vista and upgraded to 7. Do you think I should try Repairing my Windows 7?

Again, before doing anything else, besides downloading the C++ package. I'm going to see if I BSOD today after sweeping the old AMD Display drivers. But any other suggestions you have is appreciated.

    Zigzag,

So for about two days I haven't had a BSOD and thought that it was fixed. Today I got a BSOD, and something I did notice was that I updated my Flash Player to the latest. It asked me right when windows started. I looked through the event viewer and saw no red flag events for any application today. I'm attaching the minidump, but I have a feeling it's going to say the same thing as last time x124.

*UPDATE* - I take that back. After looking in the event viewer - Windows Logs - System:

    Log Name: System

    Attached is everything I hope.

I have windows 7 professional 64-bit. It was an upgrade from Vista. I did an upgrade install, not a fresh install. Such as, deleting vista then installing 7. Full retail. Hardware is about a year old with the exception of the CPU and graphics card. My system specs should be visible in my profile. OS age probably 8 months.

I did run the verifier before and blue screened because of it, but I updated asus drivers and other drivers which should resolved that issue.

I have run all of those test before and all passed, but I guess I can run them again.
