Intermittent hard hangs no displayed bsod

    System specs:
    pc age - 1mo
    cpu: i5-3570k 4.5Ghz @ 1.26V (100.1 BCLK)
    memory: 8GB DDR 3 1600 Kingston Blue (KHX 1600C9D3B1K2/8GX) (ran at 1333Mhz 8-8-8-21-1T @ 1.5v)
    mobo: Gigabyte z77-d3h (rev 1.0 F18 BIOS)
    hd: WD Black 7200RPM 1TB SATA3
    gpu: gtx 570 (900gpu 2100mem @ 1.075v)
    psu: BFG 650W

crash scenarios: As of yesterday, would consistently crash during high memory load games (Dota 2). All peripherals lock up, screen goes black, audio plays for short time then stops completely. Will also crash randomly as I am doing standard internet browsing.

what i've tried so far: Dialed back memory speed to run better with my ivy bridge's IMC. Ran aida64 for ~20 minutes, ran fine at low temps. Did at least 1 pass (20min) run of memtest86+ (results showed fine). Going to be using trying new memory tomorrow as I can't imagine the problem being with anything else.

    Thanks for the help.

Hiyya twixa and welcome am no expert but how a about running a memtest on the machine's Kingstons as you mentioned the crash comes with high load on the memory gaming.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool < takes awhile and you need to run at least 6-7 runs / passes. Any errors will show up reasonably quickly.

Just as matter of interest why are you running the RAM at 1333MHz ??

I will run more passes if I find the time to soon just to know for sure what the exact issue is. -- I simply shrug it off as the deficient hardware causing this havoc as it's been there in my PC for already > month (and it's only really become an issue since BIOS update).

AFAIK that memory kit is designed to and will run at 1.65V with X.M.P. Have to down clock at 1.5V-~1.6V or the internal memory controller starts going to hell. (Booting in recently at factory XMP settings made every app unusable, nearly immediate BSOD)

Since I can't see what error codes I'm getting now, I'm a bit lost on what to try.

Hum twixa some recommend running that memtest overnight - sorry mate I missed that in your original post.

Like I said I am no expert and just from what I have gathered over time updating the BIOS can cause problems and perhaps this is what this might be down to.

If you are going to try new memory then I suppose it is worth a try.

Okay, just to keep an update on what I've tried since...
Received my new memory in the mail, running 1866 @ 9-10-9-28 1.5V.

I believe to have singled out the issue to an unstable gpu overclock. The next time my computer froze up, I sat there for a few moments and the screens turned back on. When I looked at my HWiNFO64 sensor, it showed my GPU running at these F***'D up speeds (http://i47.tinypic.com/2q9fmgp.jpg). There was also a matching event that showed up in event log: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.". How might I get my default speeds back to what they should be AKA (732/1900) should I receive another crash when finding a new stable OC.

So after all it's not a full-on crash, it's my driver restarting to a turtle pace state.

Hum twixa mate apart from stating the bleeding obvious - updating that driver I am at a temporary loss.

Just by the by a quick way to upload pics is snipping / saving and screen shots my own preference is snips. It will save you a lot of time.:)
