    BSOD Problems

    Hi all,

This is for my sister's laptop, the full DxDiag is included, but here are the basic specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit (OEM)
The laptop is 6 months old, hard drive is 1 month.

    The problem:

My sister was streaming a TV show a couple of days ago and the computer got infected with a virus. I think I have managed to get the virus off, but now the the laptop is BSOD-ing after the OS is booted up for about 2-3 mins.

I have tried using system restore to an earlier point but it did not stop the problem. I can run the laptop in Safe Mode without any problems.

When the BSOD happens, it says something about the file iastor.sys not working. I have an installation disc for Win7 HP 32bit, and was wondering if my best solution would be to reinstall Windows and restore the files afterwards using the back-up partition of the hard drive. There is Office 2010 on the computer, but apart from that I don't think there is anything else of value. Would the back up restore the Office 2010?

I have also tried to repair the OS using the Win7 install disc but no problems where detected.

I have attached the BSOD files as requested, but when I try and run the
perfmon /report it says the destination is unreachable.

    Thanks in advance for replies,
    Stubbyhs

You have a rootkit infection. Run the rootkit removal tool and see if it gets rid of it. If it doesn't then you're most likely going to have to do a full format and re-install

How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?
