Dell Studio 1555 shutting down Hello guys. I have a problem with my laptop. Dunno if it is hardware or software problem. My laptop keeps on shutting down when i use OpenGL in Counter Strike 1.6, i fixed this problem by using D3D mode in the game. Another problem appeared when i installed NFS Underground. I dunno why the problem with the laptop sudden shutdowns appeard again. This problem doesn't occur when i play League of Legends for example (game runs ar high setup). Seems like it isn't a heat problem, non the less i can't figure out what is happening, so i wonderd maybe you can help me solve this. | My System Specs |

That's the problem, i don't get a BSOD. Computer just power off's. After i open the laptop again, it says just that the windows has not been shut down properly. That's all the information i have. And btw, in Event Viewer i don't see errors or things related to it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio 1555 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU T6600 2.2Ghz Memory Samsung 2gb/2gb ddr2 800Mhz Graphics Card Ati Mobility Radeon 4570 Sound Card X-fi Surround 5.1 Screen Resolution 1366*768 Hard Drives Seagate 320GB 8mb cache 5400rpm |

To ensure minidumps are enabled: Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter. Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button. Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked. Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies). Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump. Click OK on each window to get out. Reboot if changes have been made.
Power off or restart is usually caused by a crash/BSoD.
Change the settings listed above and let it sit for a while if it crashes again, it will be making the dump files.
After the next crash follow these instructions: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number 76~2.0 OS Windows 7 Ult x64 - SP1/ Windows 8 Pro x64 CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 4.6GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X UD3H, f18 Memory 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance CL8 1.5v Graphics Card Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC 1GB DDR5 Sound Card Onboard VIA VT2021 Monitor(s) Displays 22" LCD Dell Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech Wave Mouse CM Sentinel PSU Corsair HX650W Case Cooler Master Storm Scout Cooling Corsair H80 2x12cm Noctua NF P12 , 2x14cm case fans Hard Drives Samsung 840Pro 128GB SSD,

It eventually seemd like the crashes were most probably from the ATI Display driver version 11.4. After i uninstalled the driver, restarted the laptop and installed the new driver 11.5 the problem seems to be solved, now even the CS 1.6 in OpenGl mode seems to work flawlessly. Anyway thank you for your support. If the problem persists I will eventually return for more debugging procedures. I also made what you said. Hope it will help at next crash.
Thx for help,
Sincerely Andrei. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio 1555 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU T6600 2.2Ghz Memory Samsung 2gb/2gb ddr2 800Mhz Graphics Card Ati Mobility Radeon 4570 Sound Card X-fi Surround 5.1 Screen Resolution 1366*768 Hard Drives Seagate 320GB 8mb cache 5400rpm |
