Frequent black Screens & BSOD - Asus p67 + i5 2500k

I just built a new system.

Asus P67 Pro
i5 2500k
GSkill 8gig (eco)
Dual 5770 HD ATI

Day started off with constant BSOD - I first thought it was the ram due to it running at 1.5v; so i downgraded to 1.35 as the specs say. It was running great - ran Prim95 for 15 min, no issues ... went and mowed the yard came back to 'windows recovered from an error'

while researching I had another BSOD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After lots and lots of trial and error (about 4 windows installs, lots of memory swaps, hd swaps, etc) I think I narrowed it down. It seems the Marvell SATA ports are to blame. After switching from the Marvell to the Intel SATA ports I haven't had a blue screen yet (*knock on wood*); been doing lots of stress tests all night and still going strong. (I also only installed 2 drivers [NIC and Sound Card] instead of all 7 that were on that ASUS disk

Let's hope that was it.

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Glad to hear you found the cause.

Usually the supplied disk has out of date drivers, always check the Asus motherboard site for new drivers.

Marvell ports can cause issues, use the Intel ports 6Gb/s ports for fast SSDs or the 3Gb/s ports for HDDs.

If you have any more questions, post the full motherboard model.
