leave space unallocated on install = BSODs?
Hello,
For two days I've been struggling with win 7 x64 installation.
My conf: Asus P8P67, corei5 2500K, 2x4gb Geil, Hitachi deskstar 71000.C 1tb.
I got blue screens with different codes each time and at different points of installation. Sometimes the files would not even load, sometimes I launched the desktop for 1st time and managed to instal chipset drivers. I ran memtest 86+ on ram - no errors. I put the hdd in another pc - also no errors.
Then I decided to try and use an old 80gb seagate hdd I used as a scratch. The system installed fine and I rebooted it a few times to provoke bsod but it worked fine. So the blame went on Hitachi hdd, I ran diagnostic tools from the manufacturer's website but again - no errors.
I gave it one more try - When installing and partitioning the drive this time I didn't leave any space unallocated and made two partitions - 200gb for the system, the rest as logic and formatted both. So far it runs smoothly and no bsod occurs. However, I need to feel more confident that partitioning could have been the reason and now I can rely on the system. Can you give me any clue?

ok, I guess the post is out of date. The moment I sent it a bsod popped up - 0x0000001a memory management. I'm starting to have enough...
