    Welcome
    Two things to try
First try a system restore from 2 days before the problem
The next solution is to make a new user account. The one you are in is corrupt

Sorry that SR did not work. I am very confident with the new account, however.

You opened a new user account and start menu still would not stay open?

    If yes try this
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Did you boot the computer after the new account?
Try the start button in the new account

If the start button works with the new account, you have to use the new account.
