start up repair cant repair and i cant find OS

thanks in advance for any help

starters i have a
gateway p-7811 fx
2.00 GB and Seagate Momentus 200GB hard drive only one hard drive

1. originally i had vista
after a while installed 7 ultimate 32 bit (a clean sweep i think) and i still have the installation cd

so what happened i dont know

it cant start up it i can only go to bios or it tells me to put in the install cd, i cant do f8

so i ran the seagate diagnostics tool and the code said its unreadable so i dont care just want some of the info off of it

i pulled the hard drive and connected it to my wifes pc
but now it consantly connects and diconnects over and over again
tried both of her USBs the same
the cable im using plugs into an outlet so i dont think its a USB power problem
if im lucky it will let me copy 100 mb or so

i tried putting it in the freezer for half an hour and it did seem to help but moisture would condense on the outside so i dont want to do that again

any ideas
