Windows 7: BSOD's for around a year

BSOD's for around a year

· OS - Windows 7 Professional
· x64
· Windows 7 Perfessional
· Full retail
· Less then a year
· December 2010

· AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
· 2 XFX 5570 Radeon HD
· ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
· Power Supply - KINGWIN Lazer LZ-1000 1000W Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC W/ 3-Way LED Switch and Universal Modular Connector Power Supply

About to rip my hair out! Built my machine in July of 2010 and haven't had the best of luck since.

On a side note I've ran a multitude of tests to rule out hardware. WD HDD diagnostic tool, Memtest 86+, LinX, and Prime 95. All have done great. Memtest for 5-6 passes, Prime95 for 24 hours and LinX for 100 passes.

Here is an image of my latest BSOD (or YSOD). I'm hoping there's just some driver or something that is outdated and just needs an update.

Thanks.

You hit the nail right on the head.

Two problems

1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-And Your Symantec. Remove and replace with Microsoft security essentials

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

I could have SWORN I updated that driver. Guess I didn't. Had it downloaded but must have not unzipped it and ran it.

Hopefully that will fix it!

But it's updated.

I don't know why it says it isn't. Unless I didn't do something right. I donwloaded the file, extracted it, and ran the AsAcpiIns file in the 64-bit folder. Went through the install process and it auto restarted my computer.

Here's an image of the file that says 2009.

I don't know why that's still in there, but it shouldn't.

There may be a second copy in another location. Try searching for the file.

You only need the one in System32, and perhaps in Sys32/driverstore.

I would delete any that have the old date.

The ones in that folder are the out of date ones.

Maybe I'll just copy paste the current one into the others.

I can't delete the one that is outdated. I need permission from system to do it.

I'm the admin account.

Here is an image of the folder:

Lots of outdated stuff from the looks of it.
