SOLVED: HP TouchSmart 600 random daily BSODs
I finally rid myself of random daily BSODs on my HP TouchSmart 600-1120, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, SP1, by disabling the Fintek / Microsoft eHome Transceiver in Device Manager. This device was using driver version 6.1.7600.4 dated 11/13/2009, and I have been unable to find a newer version of this driver. It is only used by the HP TouchSmart media remote control, which I wasn't using anyway. It does NOT affect the wireless keyboard/mouse.
To disable the device, press Windows Key - Pause Break to bring up the Windows 7 System screen, then click Device Manager in the tasks area on the left. In Device Manager, expand the Human Interface Devices tree, then right click Fintek eHome Transceiver and select Disable.
I'm hoping this helps somebody else get around the aggravating lack of system stability caused by this device driver. According to HP and Microsoft's driver searches, a newer version has never been published.
