MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Along the lines of what Essenbe has mentioned, one way of finding out what windows says about your video capabilites is:

WIN + PAUSE/BREAK key combo | Performance Information and Tools (at bottom of left-hand column) | View and print detailed performance and system information (in center area underneath your Base Score) | at the bottom of the Graphics section you will see DirectX version.

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

You can also run DXDIAG.EXE

In the systems tab of the resulting display, the last item listed will be the DirectX version.

Only trouble here is that on my laptop, the first method I mentioned says DirectX 10 and DxDiag says DirectX 11.

Not stupid at all.

SIW (system information wizard) is a free program that is fantastic about reporting everything possible about your system.

In my signature there is a link to SIW.
