Extremely slow boot up. Help!!! relatively new PC

Sony Vaio notebook PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

The computer boots up and instantly goes to a black screen. After roughly 10 minutes, I have the option to run Startup Recovery or boot windows normally.

Startup Recovery does not help and states that it cannot fix the problem.

If I try to boot Windows normally, it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to start windows. After it starts, the screen resolution is at the lowest setting (appears to be safe mode but it is not). So, I rollback my display driver and re-install. After this, I cannot reach windows anymore.

I also tried the boot up disc but it seems all my recovery options are non-existent. For example, all the System Restore options are gone. I can't return to old settings.

hello ddgreen, welcome to sf... if I'm not mistaken, this problem is already going on in another thread? If so, please close this one by calling it solved?
