Windows 7: Constant BSOD

Having constant BSODs, obviously. They are fairly random it seems, though sometimes they can spike in their frequency. Sometimes it's 12 hours in between, give or take, sometimes it feels like every hour. System has been fine for several months, but it's just recently begun this problem seemingly out of the blue. I don't believe I've made any significant software changes that might have set this in motion. Thinking it might be overheating possibly, but I really don't have any clue or experience to say.

-Using Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
-Original installation
-OEM
-Hardware is only a few months old. Purchased in February.
-Have not re-installed the OS.

Hello,

I suspect hardware is at fault, RAM in particular. Start out by running the three Prime95 tests: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html

Keep an eye on Speedfan as you do, and report the temps.

Also run Memtest86: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Just in case software is at fault, run driver verifier: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Ran Prime95. Temps neared 80c in just a few minutes. Little hot for my tastes so I killed it before it could go any higher. Definitely need to invest in a laptop cooler regardless of whether or not that's the issue.

Driver verifier nuked something. I followed the instructions, but on boot up I'd immediately BSOD from the 'Starting Windows' screen. Couldn't even make it to log-in. Had to system restore.

Running memtest now, will report back in a few hours.

Two matters:

One the next time Verifier freezes you machine:
Safe Boot.
From a command prompt run Verifier /Reset

Regarding your temps:
Prime will drive you temps up. Normal but frightening. A suggestion is to point a desk/table/floor fan directly at your laptop the next time when you run Prime. That should help to keep the temps down. I use Coretemp and the Coretemp gadget to keep an eye on temps. Link to coretemp in my sig.

Cleared seven passes on memtest, no errors.

Will do that and run Prime again karlsnooks, don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place. Ditto again on safe boot to reset verifier. I really could have benefited from reading all the way to the bottom of Jonathan's verifier post heh.
