    Bios message - DDR3 Unganged mode ??

    Hi tall
I installed some new memory -- now single 4GB chips are cheap enough I upped the ram in my machine to 16 GB.

Works fine -- but on boot there is always a message DDR3 Unganged mode.
    System boots OK though.

can I ignore it or do i have to swap the memory modules around -- i don't really want to get at the computer which i've stored out of the way (it's a SERVER) and open it all up again.

    Cheers

A quick google search does the trick

It is amd's version of Nvidia's Locked vs unlocked architecture.

basically allowing you to use your ram in dual channel vs single channel.

Ganged = dual channel mode for ram. All cores get access to 100% of the ram.

unganged = single channel. Each core gets access to a stick of ram.

In theory, the unganged mode is better as each core will get access to data quicker. In theory.

So to answer your question. No, you don't need to worry about that message. It is just letting you know that you're running in unganged mode.
