Help, W7 is killing my hard drive!

    Hi, I have now disabled the DVD Drive (never use it anyway) in Device Manager and the activity has stopped almost completely. So it turns out it was the operating system constantly polling the drive. Thanks

    DVD drive?? I thought your hard disk was constantly used and that worried you??

    Yes, it was the hard disk drive that as constantly on as the operating system was trying to constantly poll and check if there was anything inserted in the DVD drive. Disk Drive or CD-ROM Access Light Blinks Every Few Seconds
