Partially frozen system

Twice today my mouse (a Logitech USB optical mouse) and keyboard (an old Dell PS/2 keyboard) stopped working. At that point it was a bit hard to tell what else had stopped working, but the second time I was not at the PC when the devices stopped working and the screensaver had kicked in by the time I noticed. Neither the mouse (whose light was now out) nor the keyboard would bring the display back. I would suspect a driver but these 2 devices are pretty unrelated.

Can anyone suggest some debugging action?
I ran Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.exe even though this wasn't a BSOD problem. Should I attach the results?

Pat Please look in event viewer

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Since opening this thread I've had another freeze and an unexpected reboot (no BSOD). Even so, I'm not seeing anything useful in the logs. (That could be just my inexperience causing me to miss things.)

No Application and Service log entries for today.
Windows Logs - Application: nothing but Info and a couple Warning entries
Windows Logs - System: pairs of significant events for each reboot

Event ID: 41
Task Category: (63)
Level: Critical
Keywords: (2)

Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Not exactly helpful info. When my mouse and keyboard stopped working I had no choice but to reboot out from under the frozen system.

The only other slightly suspicious event I see (a Warning that occurs about 11 minute after each reboot) is
Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Client
Event ID: 1014
Description:
Name resolution for the name dns_registration.domain.actdsltmp timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
None of this seems terribly helpful.

system re image frozen?
So earlier today I created a system image backup which I was planning to do monthly. Anywhoo after some failing OCing I rebooted into windows to find avast and some other programs messed up. Can I turn on system protection thru cmd? Windows is frozen.
I think that I have some "corrupt files" that were deleted after some auto updates were installed. This has created chaos in my windows. Normal mode windows locks up when booted, and now it is doing the same thing in safe mode. The only response I can get is in command. I also tried...

Only Partially Connected to Internet
(I don' know where this belongs, having not previously encountered the problem.) I noted early today that SuperAntiSpyware would not update, saying the firewall was at fault; analyzed that, did not fix the problem. After rebooting, I got a message about Protexis Licensing Service having...

Taskbar only partially visible
I have a new HP Pavilion Elite computer and I am using a new 24" flatscreen tv for my monitor. The problem I have is that my taskbar is only partially visible. My buttons at the top of my screen, minimize and maximize as well as the X button are not seen at all. And some of my web pages...

PC Wakes from sleep, but only partially
The last 3 days or so my PC has woke up from sleep mode, or standby mode about 2-3 times each night. And the weird part about it. Is the PC wakes up. It turns on and my lights and fans and water-cooling kick into gear. The Monitor Turns on, or wakes up as well. But the odd part is the Monitor...
