Solved Brightness hardware button crash

I am running Windows 7 Pro 32bit on my laptop and have a problem with my brightness buttons. The two buttons are controlled by pressing function and f7,f8. My problem will come at random after booting up. When pressing either brightness button, the computer will simply freeze and must be hard reset. No BSOD screen or memory dump occurs. If I boot and use the buttons and they work, then they will function normally until the next boot. The problem comes completely at random so it makes it difficult to get help from Future Shop, where I have a warranty. The problem will happen a few times in a row, and when I take it to the store, the problem isn't there. It's quite embarrassing because this has happened twice and they probably think I'm insane.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Jorge, welcome to SF!

The way you explain it, you'd almost think it has something to do with your BIOS, but I doubt that for now...
As you say you have warranty, does that mean it is a relatively new buy or was it long ago and did you buy extended warranty? This system type has been around for a while and most system drivers are 2009-ish...

As a check, could you make sure you've got correct keyboard drivers: HP Quick Launch Buttons HP G60-304CA Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

If this doesn't work then please do post full info as instructed here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

even if there is no dmp... thx.

I've installed that and will monitor the situation for a few days. If I don't run into the problem again, then I guess it worked. Thanks for your help.
