saad300, I'm curious to know if you have/had "iPhone to Computer Transfer" or other software from 3herosoft.com installed.

On my system (Windows 7 Pro x64) "Launch folder windows in separate process" was already unchecked which may be why Windows Explorer wasn't crashing when I connected my iPhone.

However, other apps including Chrome, FF, IE and iTunes were crashing frequently with "iDeviceEx.dll_unloaded" as the faulting module name. I traced this DLL to 3herosoft, uninstalled their software and things have been much more stable since. They make some decent apps, so I'll get in touch with them about fixing the DLL.
