Thanks Americancritic for taking the time to do this.
To answer your questions:
It is an Ideapad Y560, model name 0646.
No hardware replacements ever. Software - just basic things - Skype, Ventrilo, LOTR Online

Wifi - yes, my desktop distributes it.
No virus or malware problems, ZoneAlarm works fine. No Roxio or Nero.
Updating the
drivers manually - there is a hundred of them and they all report being perfectly up to date. I located one of the drivers that had a Wifi in the name - Intel(R) Wifi link 1000 BGN - that one's up to date as well apparently. I used Uniblue's DriverScanner and it found 11 Ancient drivers and updated them. Haven't had a crash yet after that (=2 hrs of work or so). Can't really tell what all of them were, but 4 of them were J*** Host Contr types, 6 others Intel(R) Series something, then keyboard, ATI audio and Realtek Highdef (audio as well?).
I will update you if my problem reappears, and if it does, will post another zip file, unless you have other suggestions?
Thanks again!
