Random BSOD's

Hi,

I have been having random BSOD's, at this stage maybe a couple a week - Strange this is they never happen when I am in front of the system instead usually in the middle of the night.

I have updated all my drivers that I am aware of.

I don't know if this is related but I am having problems with my firewall - programs that are already connected to the net are fine but cannot connect any new programs or navigate on the net. I solve this by either restarting or turning off my firewall, I have tried uninstalling windows firewall and trialling zonealarm which was helped a bit but not solved the problem.

System is about 2 months old and the specs are below:

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
MoBo: ASRock Z68 Pro3 Motherboard B3
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (2x4GB) DDR3
PSU: Silverstone Strider Plus 750W ST75F-P
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD
ODD: Lite-On IHAS124 24X DVDRW OEM
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 Ultra Durable

Extras:
Keyboard: Razer Lycosa
Mouse: Logitech G9
Monitor: Alienware Optx 23"

Hopefully this is something easy to solve, looking in the event viewer the common thread seems to be Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power!

I have no analysis for you, but... did you know that there is a new version of RemotelyAnywhere with is Win 7 compatible from LogMein? I'm behind on sleep but I think I noticed that you have an ancient version installed. Couldn't hurt to update.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hi,

I did the driver verifier stuff last night and rebooted my computer, it was sitting on the windows loading screen for awhile so I left if overnight.

I get up this morning and it is still sitting at the windows loading screen.

It doesn't look like it has frozen and the windows logo is still moving, is this normal behavior? Or should it have taken me back into windows?

Note : Nevermind, I restarted it a couple of times and I am in now, no BSOD as of yet but will leave it for a few days and wait. When it does BSOD do I just upload the minidump files again?
