    S.O.S...help really needed

Hello all, where do I start...I'll try to be as succint as possible. This post does not actually entail a BSOD though it happens to be a fall-out of what is happening. I was running Vista on my hp g50 notebook and save certain problems that occur with systems nothing out of the ordinary happened. Enter Windows 7 Ultimate x32,and all HELL BROKE LOOSE!!!
I formatted and installed windows 7,seeing I have my files on a back up drive I decided to upload them onto my notebook. I installed Avast antivirus (Free version of course) and went ahead installing my programmes, after which I started installing my other files from my Toshiba 1TB hardrive. After working for about 8-9 hrs transferring files I noticed that the file transfer speed started to slow down considerably, initially I could transfer a 8gig file for about 5-6 mins, but 9hrs later that same file size was transferring for upwards of 65mins!
To make matters worse if I attempt running any other process while this transfer was going on then my system just locks up with the system not responding blah blah blah.
So what did I do...I had to force it to shut down using the power button. I tried re-booting and it took the system about 20 mins to boot to desktop and then it takes about 5 mins to process a request as simple as righ-clicking on the desktop to access the refresh menu!
I removed one of the Igig rams from the system and when did re-boot it was fast but the problem started again after a while,I tried shutting down...no way, after managing to access the shut down button (which took about 10 mins to process as it freezes up) the system displayed logging off for another 25 mins and subsequently displayed shutting down for another 38 mins! I forced shutdown again! this went on for about 4-5 times....
    Eventually...BSOD was evoked!
I subsequently formated and everything was honky dory again,I placed a brand new ram in place of the one I removed before but lo and behold after the same time period as the first (some 8-9hrs give or take) the transfer became slow again!...I ran memory test from my laptop utility and it said the rams were ok...still not satisfied I went to a computer store and tried over 7 new rams on the system...changing slots and the like the problem remained. I ran windows repair utility,it siad the system volume was corrupt and it couldn't repair it.I ran disk check and windows tried fixing file systems errors and the like...to cut a long story short...I decided to downgrade to my vista ultimate, maybe this would be better...this I did and all was well til the same 8-10 hrs space of work and the system just keeps hanging, working for like 5sec,then not responding for like 15mins then responding for like another 3sec and on and on.
I've formatted a total of 6 times and each time the problem occurs after 8-10 hrs of my transferring my files. I even on the last time refused to install any software thinking maybe a software could be the cause of the problem...I un-installed my nvidea driver,I disabled windows update needless to say I scanned for viruses...still the problem persists..now my eyes are turned to the hard disk...I'm performing check disk now...I just formatted (the 7th time without having installed ANYTHING or transferred ANY files),and on stage 5 of 5 (checking free space on disk) it got stuck for the past 30 mins and counting on 77%.
Sorry for the long post I just wanted to explain everything perfectly. It should be noted that when I installed Vista again,I was patient ,waiting for it to shut bdown properly and I noticed that I didn't get a BSOD. It always came after several foreced shutdowns. My queston is "Why is windows ALWAYS going into the first stage of dying evidenced by freezing up and the like after I have used up to 80+ gig space of my hardrive (out of the 111gig..that's what I see after formating,it's supposed to be a 120gig hdd) and been working for about 8-10hrs...I've spent many sleepless nites transferring and editing my files only to have everything go down the drain leaving me depressed and confused. Please I need help asap as I rely on that system working for my livelihood...if I don't come up with a solution by thursday,I would lose a contract on friday...something I cannot afford,if it were financilaly feasible for me I would have gotten a new laptop but alas..it's not...please Experts help me out.

Pardon me, I forgot to mention that during this whole problem before I did the first re-format,windows stopped recognizing my usb mouse...with other hardware like flash drives,printer...no problem. I tried purchasing another usb mouse and tried it... the same problem...windows said it could not install the driver for my mouse. Now this is where it gets weird, after formatting and re-installing windows the problem persisted i.e windows doesn't install the driver for my mouse what could possibly be wrong please help.
