I have recently purchased a PC that frequently has APPCRASH and APPHANG(B1) issues. Could anyone offer some instight as to what may be causing this?

    Thanks

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have followed the instructions that you left. I hope this is enough information.

    In the box:

Faulting application name: DivX Plus Player.exe, version: 10.2.1.20, time stamp: 0x4cdc8b7a
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00000000
    Faulting process id: 0xb38
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cc5475719074a8
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\DivX\DivX Plus Player\DivX Plus Player.exe
    Faulting module path: unknown
    Report Id: 1e0aeb7c-c076-11e0-953d-00268317f626

    In window:

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Application Error
    Event ID: 1000
    Level: Error
    Task Catagory: 100

    Next

    In the box:

The program iTunes.exe version 10.4.0.80 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
    Process ID: 14fc
    Start Time: 01cc547515c2e5da
    Termination Time: 5
    Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    Report Id:

    In the window

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Application Hang
    Event ID: 1002
    Level: Error
    Task Category: (101)

I hope that's enough information to provide some insight? This kind of error seems to be happening across a range of programs, mostly (although not limited to) audio and video.

    Thanks again :)

Can you start by running this?

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
    SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

Already have run that, no errors. :/

The system has been running stable ever since my last bump though :)

I think I'll leave it for now. Thank you for your interest though, it's appreciated :)
