Windows 7 64-bit BSOD'ing whenever I watch Netflix Instant...

Hi everyone,

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my old computer and hooked it up to my TV to use as a media center PC. Everything has been going great (drivers, wireless, etc.), except whenever I try to watch Netflix Watch Instantly content (the main purpose of having the computer), after about 10-20 minutes, the computer BSOD's. I've tried monitoring temps with SpeedFan, running MemTest, running hard disk checks, reinstalling some drivers, and using different browsers, but none of that has helped.

Would someone who knows how to do analyze them mind taking a bit of time to try to diagnose the problem? I really like Windows 7, but if I can't get it to run stable for Netflix W.I., the computer would be rendered essentially useless, and I'd have to try installing Ubuntu or some other linuxy OS, which I really don't want to do...

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

The majority of these are Related to netr28ux.sys 802.11n Wireless Adapter Driver from Ralink Technology Corp. Yours is 2+ years old.

I would re-install using the newest available version.



There are other causes but lets deal with the most frequent first.

Thank you very much for your help! I went ahead and uninstalled and then re-installed and updated netr28ux.sys and also installed SP1 as another person suggested.

After the driver reinstall and update, I did note that it was the same version that was there to begin with (same last modified date, etc.), and Windows is telling me that the driver "is up to date" now.

Apparently, there still is some source of instability, as, when I began to watch netflix, after ~15 minutes, the system BSOD'd again. After it restarted, however, I was able to watch netflix for about an hour without interruption.

Another user says he has spotted an NTFS error in the minidump files, so I'm planning on running chkdsk again to see what happens.
