Problem with modem drivers I'm running
Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on my Acer Aspire one 532h with 2GB of ram
I have a smart link USB 56k modem, it came with drivers for XP and Vista, I tried to install those only to BSOD when I try to dial
I then proceeded to windows update and got a newer driver and installed that
same problem, every time I dial out, it would BSOD to IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or have a 0x0000000 error
Can anyone help me out here? I mean windows update driver should've fixed this. | My System Specs |

It comes with a manual and you are following what it says, yes?
Make sure you have uninstalled all previous drivers for it, and check with the manufacturer's website for the most recent driver for Windows 7 x86 and see about installing that. Or look on the web for the driver if you can't find it (look under a trusted, legal website; please be careful that you do not download a virus from an untrusted source). I'll go ahead and try to reproduce the problem Did it with Vista and XP drivers in XP SP2, SP3 and Vista compatibility modes, in all combinations possible Quote: "It comes with a manual and you are following what it says, yes?

The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL also will appear as DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL too.
Many time this is related to memory faults and errors. Since the modem is apparently old(?) maybe a PCI slot modem would be better, but let's see if we can fix yours first.
Download memtest86+ It will need to be burned to a CD or a bootable flash drive. (The DL link is well down the page.) Let it run for at least six passes to test your memory, unless errors pop-up right away.
Since it is USB connected try uninstalling/reinstalling Drivers for the USB devices in Control Panel.
In Control Panel open Devices and Printers with the modem connected. Right click the modem icon, then trouble shoot.
A malware might be working too. Run MalwareBytes and Super Antispyware after doing updates. Do the full scans with each. Link for them in my sig. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Uploading the dump files wouldn't hurt either since there's a BSOD problem too. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Compaq sr5410f case OS Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 CPU AMD X2 4450E @ 2.3 ghz Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ Memory 4.0 g Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT , 512mb Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays auria eq2367 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard logitech wave cordless Mouse logitech LX8 cordless laser mouse PSU 250 watts Case Compaq Cooling couple fans Hard Drives 1 tb Hitachi HDT721010SLA scsi, 500 gb external Internet Speed comcast hi speed 19 dn 8 up Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Browser IE10 Other Info Laptop specs: HP g7-1365dx /

sad Attached is that BSOD program folder that the guide told me
I tried to reinstall the drivers
weird, when I do it from the website via compatibility mode, there's two devices. There's smartusb modem and a full duplex voice modem.
So I'm using the one from windows update | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Ultimate x86 |

So I'm using the one from windows update you might try and post this in the "BSOD" section of this forum, as some expert BSOD techies sometimes stay on that side of the forum. Or ask a moderator by "reporting" your post and requesting them to move this thread to the BSOD section. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron M5040 OS Windows 8 Pro with Media Center x64 CPU AMD E-450 APU 1.65 GHz Memory 4GB Graphics Card Built-in Radeon HD 6320 Graphics Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Mouse Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 Cooling fan Hard Drives 500GB Internet Speed 2.86Mbps Download Speed, 2.85Mbps Upload Speed & 26ms Ping Antivirus Defender Browser IE10 Problem with modem drivers problems?
