Windows 7 Professional no log on screen show up after boot

despite the fact that i have been trying to boot up win7pro64 in normal mode in my vaio for the past one month, all of my endeavors have failed so far. i am left with nothing else other than going for recovery resulting the loss of all of software (hopefully, i can backup my data by using ubuntu which is present as dual-boot and/or by safe mode which are booting fortunately). i have tried the following so far in safe mode:
# HDD/RAM tests; passed
# malware check by malwarebytes; passed
# reinstalling the graphics driver as i have a doubt that the video driver is not working since screen goes blank instead of getting blue logon screen with user name/icon/password after windows initial boot (the cursor appears on the screen and i can make it move by using touchpad); passed
# start-up repair; failed
# going back to last good config; failed
# restore point; none exists!
# manual update by downloading recent patches from windows update catalog (using a different computer as this did not allow for some weird reason) since the problem started only after recent windows update that failed during installation; failed.

safe mode does not allow me to fix anything, windows update does not work here in addition to some other important functions that could be done in normal mode.

couple of windows updates and loss of the system? i will absolutely hate to go for the recovery.

Start -> Run -> msconfig
From the General tab, select Diagnostic startup, click OK.
Restart your PC allowing a normal boot.

Does the login screen show up now? Can you login?

Hit Start -> Run, type eventvwr and Enter.
Expand Windows Logs, Right click System, choose Save all events as... choose a random filename, save as type -> use *.evtx save it on your desktop. Upload that logfile using the attachments snap-in in the post reply toolbar ()

This step is optional, I should be able to tell what service is causing the problems from the log above.
But just so that your system will have a little bit more of functionality do the follwing.
Start -> Run -> msconfig
Click Normal startup.
Go to the Services tab, click hide all Microsoft services, click Disable all.
Go to the Startup tab, click Disable all.
Click ok.
Restart your PC into normal mode.

Tell me if any unusual system behavior.

when i started my computer this time normally (i guess i am still using diagnostic start-up mode?), and did Win+R followed by eventvwr command after getting onto desktop, i have received the following error message:
"Event Log service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running."
please take a look at the screenshot below.

i could now be able to use msconfig command to "Go to the Services tab, click hide all Microsoft services, click Disable all. Go to the Startup tab, click Disable all." however, these did not let me go for normal startup, it was asking for diagnostic startup only. when i restarted, i did not see any unusual behavior. when i ran eventvwr command after login, same error msg as before was obtained.
