New i3 Build - Frequent crashes

I am getting frequent crashes with new build, and thank you in advance for any help. Couple of things I have done: 1) updated new OCZ SSD to most recent firmware, 2) tested each memory stick with memtest for 12-14 passes in each slot (4 tests) with -0- errors, 3) ran Verifier on non-Microsoft drivers, and 4)The MB is Gigabyte, and I couldn't run with install of the drivers on their website, so I installed only critical drivers 1 at a time until I could get stable enough to make this post.

Hi oronomus and welcome to SF!

Most of your crashes blame memory corruption (a few blame Avast but I think that's related)
Try to check your RAM with this test for 7to 8 passes (or until Errors show ...whatever comes first) with 1 Stick only if possible (the windows test is not as reliable as this one)
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

You already ran Driver verifyer so if memtest86 doesn't find defective RAM (or Slot) you might consider to RMA the board (if still under warranty).
Quote:
The MB is Gigabyte, and I couldn't run with install of the drivers on their website
That's why the System Bus controller and HD audio are listed as Problem devices with missing drivers.

Windows 7 64b Ultimate

Hello Oronomus, welcome to SF!

Yep, as you said, you have a couple of problems with getting the right Windows 7 drivers for this mobo.

I'll sum up what I found so far:

1. Chipset SM bus controller (part of the mobo temp measurement and control sw) is messed up:
Quote:
SM Bus Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&FB The drivers for this device are not installed.
2. The drivers or hw for the onboard Audio has a problem:
Quote:
High Definition Audio Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2805&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000\4&3828EB94&0&0301 This device cannot start.
And it looks as if you've unsuccesfully tried to connect a PnP device. I suspect a usb mouse or keyboard or some other input device as the problem is connected to what Windows 7 calls a Human Interface...can you fill us in on what you've tried?

From the errors I see, I'd suspect Memory (RAM sticks, doesn't have to HW, could be settings / board.)

Rest of the drivers seem ok, though I have not had the time to check all yet...

First step is to boot in an as stable mode as possible, probably Safemode w/ networking and renew all applicable drivers for your mobo.
See here: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-H67M-D2-B3 (rev. 1.1)

After that, full Windows Update...
Quote:
Please go to your Maintenance Center and check the Windows Update status. Make sure you are up to date, do them one by one manually if needed.
