Stop F4 BSOD

Hello. I've attached all the necessary files as requested. I've been wrestling with this one for a while and I even work in IT! Thanks for having this service setup. It's a diamond in the rough for sure. Thank you all very much!


The following info is also included in the zip file:

System Spec Information:
Windows 7 Professional x64
Retail upgrade (as full install) for OEM Windows XP
Dell Latitude E6500 (1 year old)
OS has been re-installed two days ago (thought the problem would be solved)

Other Potentially Helpful Information:
I have intentionally turned User Account Control off.
I have swapped memory modules to check RAM integrity. Unless both chips are bad though, RAM is not the culprit. Dell diagnostics says RAM is ok.

1) At an unknown point in time, the OS will crash to a blank desktop (no desktop icons, desktop wallpaper is in tact, mouse cursor is functional, no menu bar). Within 1-2 minutes afterwards, the login screen pops up (Control+Alt+Delete). I log back in and the cycle continues.
2) Every once in a while I get a BSOD with the Stop F4 error.
3) (May or may not be related) The firewall seems to turn itself off. Action center asks to reactivate it when this happens.

Hello Shakedog, welcome to SF!

There are a couple of things to check here:

Windows Update has a problem:
Please go to your Maintenance Center and check the Windows Update status. Make sure you are up to date, do them one by one manually if needed.
For help or reset see: Windows Update - Reset
If I'm correct, that should also fix a USB driver problem I think I see in the dumps.

Also, If I'm not mistaken, you use Roxio Drag to disk stuff. I've seen problems there with W7 incompatibility before. If you can, please, as test, de-install. In total, I see > 6 drivers stemming from this Roxio package that I think are suspect and could easily create these problems.

After deletion and testing, if BSOD's still remain, please update newest dump and we'll start HW testing sequences.

You're welcome but this needs an answer... As this forum has no relation with MS at all and is just the coming together of people willing to help others all around the world...for free.... I'd say we are waaaay beyond a rough diamond Looks like a pretty and well cut diamond to me.. but then, I might be biased though I do have experience of >20 years of forums.....This one is way " above and beyond duty "

Hi again, I appreciate all prior posts and will make this one fast. The BSOD for me occours primarily after i start up my computer. Itll run for a few minutes and then do its BSOD stop 124 thing and then run fine for days unless i reboot it and leave it off for any period of time. I could repost...
