    Computer Make Me MAD!! BSOD & More...


    Hello all and I would like to thank you all in advance for looking at this thread...

    Well here is what the problem has been for the past couple weeks. I had a major problem with BSOD, which sucks but it wasn't my first rodeo. So I just transferred all my important data and then did a fresh install of Windows 7-64bit. Then all hell broke loose. I kept getting BSOD errors and then I got the dreaded Windows can't install update SP1.... Next I just went and formatted my hard drive and installed Windows ME then upgraded to Windows XP, then upgraded to Windows 7 (which that was so much fun!!) But even that didn't fix my issues.... So after reading a lot and still not able to fix anything I figured maybe someone here could offer there brain power to me and save me from smashing my PC with a baseball bat!! (just playing I would never do that!!!)

    I have followed the BSOD post rules, so you will find the info you need in a zip file. If there is anything else you need please let me know!

    Also if this thread is posted in the wrong forum, please let me know and if it is I hope it doesnt piss someone off!!!!

    Hello Fredrow, welcome to SF!

    You've got a couple of things that have to be looked at:

    1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

    The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

    Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
    Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
    Download and install it.
    Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).
    2- Overall, your system drivers are (early all) 2009. For a lot of them, there are much newer versions that could help.... Graphics drivers are a good example
    ati driver

    If these don't help... we'll go into some testing. Post back your results please...

    Hey MvdB thanks a lot for the response to this problem...

    Right after I posted it I remembered that I didnt load any of the drivers yet after doing another full installtion of Windows 7 64-bit. So I'll update the drivers and which last time I did it everything installed like they should have. The next problems that are most likely about to happen is the Windows update is going to give me a bunch of BSOD strikes on me!!! LOL... Well I'll get cracking on this stuff with the drivers and then try and update Windows 7 then I'll be back with some new info on everything.....

    Well I updated what I was able to. I did have trouble installing the AMD graphics display driver.


    Had a couple BSOD crashes....


    Also as expected the Windows updater is acting weird, hangs on updates sometimes wont even download updates. When powering off computer it hangs up on the "waiting/preparing system file updates"


    Another weird thing is sfc/ scannow doesn't fix anything and also doesn't even complete a full scan.

    I'm going to attach an updated version of my last zip file for anyone wanting to peep at it for me!! Thanks!

    mmm If I read this correctly, SFC does find errors but cannot fix? That is not good.
    Do you have Restore points to a time that things were still ok?
    Can you update us on what you have available to repair (repair DVD, original install DVD or factory install etc)?

    Did you try the SFC in Safe Mode?

    This last dump shows that all of these problems appear to be Windows Update related / maybe also Activation...
    Did you get any license/activation errors?

    Yes... Here is what happened on my last 4 sfc/ scannow:
    Verification 100% complete.
    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

    Verification 11% complete
    Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.

    The next scan got to 33%
    Next scan scan was 30%

    This was one of the main reason why I did a clean install; at some point sfc stopped working and also other tools within Windows 7

    No restore points.




    I have my original two disk that came in the Windows 7 Home Premium. Each disk contains either a 64-bit or 32-bit OS...

    That is kind of weird.... From the other times I have had to do this in the past, it seemed like it got to a point were non of the Windows tools worked....

    Out of the blue, BSODs started to appear in a friend's computer after working for 2 years without any problem. It turned out the ram stick worked loose!

    1. Make sure everything is plugged in firmly
    2. Test memory with memtest86+
    3. Run full hd diagnosis with hd manufacturer boot disk

    Still major Windows Update errors in there. Try a Windows Update reset:
    Please go to your Maintenance Center and check the Windows Update status. Make sure you are up to date, do them one by one manually if needed.
    For help or reset see: Windows Update - Reset
    Previous poster could be right, Memory failure often causes strange behaviour. test:
    Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

    Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

    Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

    Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+
