BSOD for Windows 7 machine

Getting the BSOD and I know some about computers, but certainly not the BSOD. No big changes recently except that I did move 1000+ miles, so the moving truck may have rattled something.

Thanks for the help!

Blamed on hardware but before investigating that I would remove Symantec and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

Ooh, HW sounds bad. This computer has not been friendly too me (although it runs well when it runs well, but HW has been a recurring problem - ultimately Alienware replaced every single HW element except the HD and case, which I replace the HD about a year ago) so it doesn't surpise me.

Twice I have had cooling issues - is there an event log that checks temps that I could look at?

I took a look at your Stop 0x124 link 0 here are my thoughts.

No overclocking in this computer.

Flashing the bios scares me, so I hesitate to do that until I am sure it is not the cooling (again). This system was

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

BTW, why the "no Norton" and "yes Security Essentials"? First I heard of that and I am interested in hearing more.

Thanks!

No overclocking in this computer. Good

Flashing the bios scares me, so I hesitate to do that until I am sure it is not the cooling (again). This system was (dont blame you either)

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Checked the temps, but I don't know what is normal. GPU is 69-70 degrees (all temps C) each. The CPU is 45 degrees. System is 120-1244 degrees. Core0-4 all run 36-48 degrees.

Also, I ran SpeedFan and it shows wierd fan numbers (not sure it is right). Sys Fan, Aux0 Fan, CPU1 fan, Aux1Fan, Fan 1 and Fan 3 all say 0 RPM (but the temp seems to be stable from initial start-up until at least 10 min in). CPU0 Fan and Fan2 say 1300-1400 and fluctuates.

Seems warm to me, but I am not sure. Also 0 on fans sounds bad, but multiple fans at 0 sound like not good data to me.

I welcome all thoughts, thanks for the help thus far!

Looking at the charts, nothing seems to be fluctuating (chart in SpeedFan)

Ran 3 strings on Prime95 and GPU naturally stayed the same but CPU climbed within a few minutes up to 71, then started dropping to about 66 3 minutes in. Stayed in teh 66-68 range for the next 3 minutes or so then jumped back to 73 and hovered there until for 1 minute then dropped to 68 until I stopped it at 10 minutes total. The CPU returned to 45 within a minute or so.

GPU stress testing (used Kombustor) and one of the GPUs quickly jumped to 80, then drifted to 86 within 1 minute, then seemed to stabalize there. It did drift up a bit more and at 4 minutes I terminated the test and it was 89 degrees. It dropped very quickly to 80, then drifted down over the next minute back to baseline (70 or so). When I benchmarked, both GPUs jumped up quickly to over 90 and finished at 94 and 92. Not sure it matters, but I got a score of 5141 (86 FPS, 6000 ms).

Hope that helps, I have no idea what most of it means!

I have not had a BSOD for a while (and in fact accidently left Prime on overnight without a crash) but I am still curious on the temps. Any thoughts?
