Windows 7: Freezing and minidump

Freezing and minidump

So I made an account to post this problem..

Recently I got dual screens, but I found that my video card, on its idle settings, could not run 2 screens without a significant flicker (Radeon 5850), and went through a lot fo trouble to fix it.

Ever since then, my windows will freeze for my reason at random intervals, the screen will turn some color, then it will come back saying that the video card driver has stopped responding but was recovered.

I have the latest drivers from ATI, and that has happened with the past 2 versions of it that I used.

I have since removed the dual screen effect, and the issue still persists.

Also, sometimes the whole computer will just freeze, and I will have to do a restart of it. Recently I was looking at the error thing in windows and it said that it was a Video Drive error or something, and gave me a bunch of files that it said it was going to send to Microsoft.

I attached the minidmp file. It would be awesome if someone could analyze it for me. I tried to download the windows debugging tools but the Microsoft site kept saying that there was some error, and all of the other sites said that they didn't support my x64 processor.

Specs = Asus M4A89TD PRO
Intel Phenom II Quad Core Black edition
ATI Radeon 5850
8 Gigs of DDR3 Corsair RAM
750W Corsair Power supply

Several interconnected problems

1-ASACPI.SYS

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-Video timeouts

VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (117)
The display driver failed to respond in timely fashion.

Can be the video driver, card, heat, power, etc.

Please remove the current driver using this method and install the last working driver.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

3-Other old drivers (including Hmonitor45--a monitor driver)

How To Find Drivers:
Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I downloaded that utility, and when I looked, I found 2 files of that exact same name, one of them being from 2005 and the other being from 2009.

The 2005 version of that file was in the location

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\asacpi.inf_amd64_neutral_a7ca2c2f114f9353

The 2009 version is in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Is this ok?

EDIT - Also, Driver sweeper does not work properly. The second I hit clean, it pops up with an "Unhandled Exception has occured in your application"
....."The specified registry key does not exist."

If I hit continue, 15 minutes later it seems as if no progress has been made on any of the cleaning.

You can rename the 2005 one to asacpi.bak

It wont rename. It says System doesn't give me permission. If I change the owner to administrators or myself, it still says I need to get permission from myself.

Turning my admin on makes no difference.

Also, would all of the old drivers, (like Hmonitor and all of the others in the third part of that post), would they be removed when I did the driver sweep, or would I have to manually update or remove those?

SO I looked up most of those drivers on the website that you linked to me. Some of the drivers are for programs that I no longer use, and I would like to remove them instead of update them (Like Saimini.sys). To do that, would I just delete the .sys file that is in the drivers folder?

I cannot find the jswpslwfx.sys driver, because when I click on the webpage provided, it asks me what product of theirs I have, and gives a bunch of numbers, and I have no idea which one is mine.. or if I even have one.

The AMDtools64.sys driver, I have no idea how to update this one because it directs me to the driver download page, and I have downloaded the latest drivers for my video card numerous times, but the driver hasnt updated.

What is the date on that driver?
