    Bsod 116

    Ok, here's the deal.

This is a problem with the boot up of windows/computer because everything works perfectly fine once computer is up and running. Currently have 2 different problems.

    1. Turn computer on, all works fine until, the Starting Windows screen. Gets past this, ready to load up the login screen but doesnt get there. Monitors turn off (no video activity). Restarts itself and works perfectly fine after that.

    2. Turn computer on, but i have no video. I can tell it gets to the login screen due to being able to hear the Windows login screen sound. Restarting does not fix this issue. Only way it seems to work is if I fiddle with the video cards/power cords to them/monitor cables. None of them seem to work every time though so its hard to narrow down the culprit.

Now with both these issues, when i finally get into Windows, it gives me the 116 BSOD error report popup. Works perfectly fine after that. I know there are 124/101 BSODs in there too but they only appear when i leave my computer on for extended periods of time (too scared to turn it off :P)
Also only seems to be when I'm cold booting my computer, due to being able to restart to my hearts content without these problems. Sleep/hibernate causes problem No. 2 too.

Now, I don't know if its related or not but my PSU (OCZ ZX 1000w) makes some loud buzzing noises when I'm playing games (under load i presume).

Hard to tell whats going on here in my eyes. Seems it might be a video card problem but they work fine. Might be PSU related though. have got a warranty request on it but thought I'd ask on here before going without it for awhile.

Have tested both video cards in other systems and doesn't seem to be the issue. Can't test the PSU due to not having another SLI setup to sort of mimic the setup i have.

Anyways, I hope you guys could help me out.

    Have attached the related information.

    Thanks,
    Matt

This looks like the continuation of your other thread here: SLI GTX 570 PSU problem

You need to update your nvidia drivers. May dumps show problems there.
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Driver Sweeper

Driver Sweeper is a fast tool to remove driver leftovers from your system. It's very important to remove your drivers on a proper way, because driver leftovers can cause problems like stability and startup problems. You can use it if you want to update/remove drivers from your system.

    How to use ?

There are two methods to use Driver Sweeper.
Both methods achieve the same results. This method is always able to clean all files.

This method will delete remaining files upon reboot (if deleting failed). You can clean your drivers this way:

    - Use the official uninstaller(s) of the driver(s) you want to uninstall.
    - Reboot your PC in Safe Mode.
    - Run Driver Sweeper and select what to clean.
    - Analyse lists all the entries possible to remove, cleaning removes the entries selected.
    - More drivers can be selected for the same cleaning process.

What can it be used for ?
The current supported drivers are NVIDIA (Display and Chipset), ATI (Display), Creative (Sound) Realtek (Sound), Ageia (PhysX) and Microsoft (Mouse).

    Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper
When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy, from the manufacturers' site if possible.

    Also, stop using Daemon tools:
Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have uninstalled SPTD/Daemon tools and gone with MagicDisc instead. Uninstalled video card drivers and performed the driver sweeper. Only problem is, i go into "programs and features" and i see Nvidia Graphics Driver 275.33 there (was the verison i had installed). Seems it keeps reinstalling itself. Though i have the crappy resolution screen/windows basic theme. Is that normal and i should go right ahead and install the 280.26 driver (latest)?

Edit: Ok, seems the uninstalling the driver didn't uninstall both of the video cards drivers. Due to the 2nd card still have driver properties under device manager which lead to Nvidia files.

try driver sweeper in elevated command or admin mode. I'd install the 280.26

next we need to test. If you get more dumps, upload latest and I'll check if nvidia drivers are recognized/loaded correctly.

Ok, finally got rid of that 2nd instance of the driver for the other video card by going into device manager, uninstalling the other gtx 570 and then running the Nvidia uninstall graphics driver thing through Programs and Features. (aint coming up anymore and i did a driver sweep afterwards to clean up). Installing 280.26 at the moment.

Edit: i'm still fairly new to a SLI setup but do you have to uninstall the drivers for each video card and then reinstall them or when you do they uninstall both?
Seemed here that both video cards had separate video drivers on them and they were conflicting eachother in some way.

To be honest, I'd expect Driver sweeper to get rid of all, regardless of the amount of cards. I guess the files were locked, which is why iI suggested the elevated perms.

Ok, installed the 280.26 drivers. Will have to leave computer off for a few hours so it can cold boot which is where the problems arose.

Thanks for the help by the way MvdB. Greatly appreciated.

Ok, I turned my computer back on after a few hours and it took me a good 10mins swearing at the computer for it to start. The 2nd problem happened. Logged into windows but didnt give me a BSOD error report this time though.
Did see "SLI is not enabled on this monitor" pop up when I logged in though. My taskbar was on my main monitor where i want it but my icons were on the other.
had to go into the Nvidia control panel and change my main display back to the Focus Display.

Ah no it wasn't. I installed the drivers, restarted and enabled SLI, 3D vision and got everything back to what it should be. Turned the computer off and went to bed. Woke up and that's when the problem arose again.
